For model, influencer and fashion designer Sammy Robinson’s first ever fashion week show at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, she joined forces with M·A·C to create a dreamy, beach-inspired beauty look with a nod to her signature makeup style. Think luminous, glass-like skin, a touch of colour on the cheeks and lids, created by M·A·C Global Senior Artist and Makeup Director for the One Mile show, Carol Mackie.
Here, Carol Mackie shares her tips and techniques on how to get the look direct from Sammy’s One Mile runway in just five simple steps, plus every product you need to recreate the look at home.
“We wanted to create a look influenced by Sammy’s love for One Mile Beach, and I was inspired by the colours in the new One Mile collection”, says Mackie. “We created this beautiful, almost glass-like look through the outer corners of the face and more matte through the centre. I wanted to bring light to the skin in a delicate way, using sandy tones on the eye lid and a natural flush of colour to the cheeks.
Step 1: Prime the skin using the new Studio Radiance Moisturising & Illuminating Silky Primer to create a radiant, hydrated base and prepare the skin for foundation. Ensure that the primer is massaged well into your complexion, then take it down to your neck and decolletage to give your skin an extra hint of luminosity.
Step 2: Amp up the glow factor by mixing a dollop of the Studio Radiance Moisturising & Illuminating Silky Primer in with the cult Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 Foundation. Studio Fix Fluid provides a buildable, full-coverage finish that simultaneously works to control oil and shine. It also known for its longevity, so you can guarantee it will last throughout the day and night. Begin by applying the foundation in the centre of the face and buff it into the skin for a sheer look.
Step 3: To bring that pretty flush of colour to the cheeks that you can see on the models on the runway, Carol used the Glow Play Blush in Blush, Please, a neutral, light-mauve hue. This innovative blush formula has a bouncy, cushion-like texture that can be blended onto the cheeks to give a sheer-to-medium hint of colour.
Step 4: On the eyes, replicate the look with the Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Contemplative State, a beige-toned ochre that is applied as a wash over the eyelid to provide a light tint of colour. Then, curl the eyelashes and follow with Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara for extra definition.
Step 5: Finish off the look with lip colour; Carol used Glow Play Lip Balm, which is designed to bring both colour and care to your pout. It contains a nourishing blend of ingredients including shea butter and mango- and jojoba-seed oils to soothe and hydrate. To replicate the look, use the shade Floral Coral, a beautiful berry-pink that perfectly complements the cheek colour.
